Heat Wave!

Like most of the country, Indiana has had quite the heat wave lately. Naturally, we decided to go to Wisconsin. It sounded like a fabulous plan. Until we looked at the weather. The forecast for Wisconsin actually showed high temperatures three to four degrees HIGHER in Wisconsin than they were in Indiana. How's that for bad planning?

Nevertheless (insert Daddy laughing at my use of language here...) we made the best of our short trip North.

She's still a little climber, isn't she?

Anna LOVED this water feature!

Snuggling the tiny baby kittens at Eugsters!

Feeding the baby goats!

Silly Daddy!

Again, Anna LOVED the water room at the Madison Children's Museum!

Ella's Deli-one of MY favorites!

What's a trip to Wisconsin without a stop by the Henry Vilas Zoo? (It's Free!!!)

Anna playing in second cousin once removed, Kate's room....which is in my grandma's old house!

Playing at Memaw's

Adele had a sleepover at Memaw's...doesn't she look cozy?

Heat Wave

Clarification

Yes, I cut Adele's hair. She kept asking for a haircut, so after I buzzed Brian's hair the other day, I asked Adele if she really wanted a haircut and she said yes. I cut several inches off...her bangs are almost grown out now. It isn't perfectly straight. Well...one side is...I messed up the left side because she moved just as I was cutting, so I took a huge chunk out. I fixed it the best I could without starting over, but it looks a little...almost wavy at that spot. I'm pretty proud of myself, and next time I'll just be sure to have her watch a movie while I do the cutting!

Hello...??? Anyone Out There?

I wouldn't be surprised if no one was there. I've been a TERRIBLE blogger lately! It could be my new "job"-you know, leading the church band (yes, leading...me, with little to no musical talent-although I once played a bass drum with fly swatters...), or it could be that I'm busy with the girls, but that wouldn't quite explain how I'm able to check email a billion times a day, now would it? I think I'll just blame facebook. It's much easier to post there....although, I rarely do that either. Maybe it's that I've been preoccupied with Daddy's new gig as a rock star, that's got to be it! Check out his band, The Dead Hearts on soundcloud or facebook. Just try to replace me as number one groupie!

Okay, enough rambling...here's what we've been up to lately:

We ran:

We danced:

We covered our ears (Adele had a pretty rough time around the 4th of July-suddenly she hated noises and would freak out about them. Fortunately, the phase didn't last too long...)

We wrote!

We wore pigtails!

Had our bandage fall off, and showed off a pretty little scar:

Wore more pigtails, and looked too cute not to take a picture of:

We sat in doll strollers, pushed them around, and generally turned into a "little mommy"-even helping wash big sister in the bath!

We ate...and loved...watermelon (and found a few watermelons growing in our own garden as well!)

We drank watermelon juice (after eating every last bite of watermelon, of course)!

We climbed:

We painted! (Anna's first time with "real" fingerpaint-as opposed to pudding-and it went well!)

We stayed cool by playing inside at the mall:

We went to a cowgirl-themed birthday party (and baked a cowgirl hat cake along with a boot!)

And we got a new, cool 'do: (and of course, played a little rock band...)

Adele and I also went to a special event...Princess Night at the Library!
We met a "real" queen, read princess books, watched a princess video and made a princess craft!

And no...I didn't say that we successfully weaned. We're almost there...as Memaw put it, I'm holding on to these last "baby" days with Anna for as long as I can. She doesn't nurse every day, but, if she wants to cuddle and nurse when she wakes up, it's pretty hard to argue with her! School starts in 3 weeks (ugh-does that make it reality now that I've typed it?) and I'm sure that will be the end of our lazy, snuggly, cuddly, nursing mornings, so I'm enjoying them while I can.

Business as Usual

There are so many cute things to report, unfortunately, I seem to forget them quicker than they happen (which is supposedly why I have this blog, but as you can see, that's not exactly working!)

Here's Adele's latest cute quote:

As she was handing out "Scooby Snacks" to Anna,

"Mommy, this is Anna's business, and this is my business. Business means we're sharing"
