In Loving Memory
Aunt Katie had to say her final goodbye to her bubba Frodo today. He was a good dog (and just the right size for Miss Adele). He will surely be missed!

If months were years...
I'd be the mother of a teenager! So far, Adele's second year is going by even faster than her first...if that's possible! 13 months today! And from these pictures, I'm not sure Adele is too far off from being a teen...
accessorize, accessorize, accessorize:

She found my book and started thumbing through it:

I gotta give it to her, the girl knows her way around a book!
She was super cute this weekend, and I've been just eating up what little time it feels like I have with her! This morning when we got up she was standing near the refrigerator and said, "na na" It sounded a little bit like "night night" which was odd, since we were just getting up. Then I thought maybe she was saying "no, no" because that's what she often hears when she gets too close to the oven (which is near the fridge). A minute later, I put her in her high chair and grabbed a banana. Aha! She was saying banana! (And how smart to say it while she stood near the fridge...where we usually get her food from!) She repeated her new word several times through breakfast. Go figure one of her first words would be a food word! Oh, and don't worry, she had another new word today: Cheese. It sounds more like ess or ezz depending on her mood, but we know what she means!

Superbunny goes to the Park!
We started our nightly walk routine again since it's staying light out later at night. The last two nights we've gone to the park. Adele has LOVED it! (And yes, that's a scarf wrapped around her body...last night her cheeks got SO cold, tonight I decided she needed a scarf!)
Such a big girl!

See the tunnel on the upper right, she climbed through there all by herself (I went behind her and almost got stuck!)

"Wheee"

(See the bruise lingering over her left eye?)

So much fun!

"Bye bye, park!"

Choices, Choices
Adele loves her sippy cups. Weaning her off of the bottle was no problem at all. I am starting to wonder if we'll ever be able to take her sippys away though! She usually has two cups going at once: Milk and water. She'll sip from one and then right away take a sip from the other. She has recently mastered climbing the furniture with both of them too!

Happy Valentine's Day!
We had a pretty fun Valentine's Day today. Adele was up almost all night coughing...rather, WE were up all night listening to Adele cough...she actually slept through her coughing fits for the most part. Daddy tried to sit with her in the chair around 1:30 (I think...) and again around 2 or 2:30, but she wouldn't sleep while he held her. Around 4:30 she was coughing pretty hard, and I didn't want to risk having her wake up for the day, so I went in and held her in the chair (I didn't know that she hadn't slept for Daddy). I guess I was the lucky parent, because she slept on me until 7:30!!! I only slept on and off, but I did get a good chunk of sleep in between 6:30 and 7:30!
Daddy wasn't feeling well, so he slept in, and then after he did wake up, he took a nap on the couch. Adele and I played around him. She loved bringing her toys over to him and didn't seem to mind that he was unresponsive. After a short morning nap by Miss Adele (she really should take sleeping lessons from Daddy!) we headed to Red Lobster for lunch. I figured that the lunch crowd would be smaller today, plus Adele is generally happier in the middle of the day, and it's tough to time going out to dinner with Adele's bedtime being so early, especially on Valentine's Day!
We had a nice lunch and stopped by the mall so I could finally get some jeans that fit. Yay! I spent the most I've ever spent on jeans on them, but they're a size smaller than I thought I was (What a GREAT Valentine's day present!) and they fit really well...so they're TOTALLY worth it!
We came back home to some mystery gifts on our front door. I think there were two separate gifts, one from Jenn (and Will and Ainsley) and one from Laureli, but I'm not one hundred percent sure. Oh well...I'll figure it out eventually so we can write thank-you's!
Adele is sleeping, Daddy's working in the office, the kitchen is clean, and last week's laundry is FINALLY folded (yes....you read that right...) so I guess I'm off to facebook for some social networking....

Rashes, Rashes, Adele Falls Down!
(The post formerly known as "Strep." New title, same old post)
Poor Adele has strep. I picked her up early from Miss Jenny's and took her to the doctor. (Not Dr. Freeman...she was out today...we saw someone else.) The doctor said that her throat looks okay, but she has a rash all over (Imagine that...Adele has a rash?) that is definitely a strep rash. So, it's another round of antibiotics for Miss Adele. And Daddy gets to stay home tomorrow. (She has conveniently needed to stay home on the 100th day of school, and now on our Valentine's Day party day...argh! It's hard to write sub plans for a Valentine's Party!)
In other poor baby news, Miss Adele got her first black eye last night. We were cuddling/rough housing in the piano room last night. Adele was climbing on me, and then rolled off. I let her roll, and she rolled right into the corner of the stepstool my Uncle Paul made for her. Ouch. She cried for a good long time! There was a huge goose egg right on her eyebrow right away, and today it's nice and purple. Poor thing!

Not Me! Monday!
I've been following this for a while, but only recently had a reason (or Not!) to join in...
Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.
...because I most certainly did NOT fly off of my treadmill while rocking out to Mercy Me last Tuesday. That would be embarrassing and very un-ladylike, especially for someone who has some dance in her background, so Nope, it wasn't me. The scratch on my knee is from...uh...falling on the ice, right.
Oh...and then, I most certainly did NOT almost fall off of the treadmill again on my following visit to the "Y" because my hand got caught in the headphones cord..that most definitely wasn't me (but maybe my twin sister?)
It also wasn't me who spent over 2 hours "learning" about Facebook tonight. That couldn't have been me because I was busy watching House...or...uh...our President, right, because House wasn't on.
It couldn't have been me who forgot to send Adele's blanket to Miss Jenny's today. That must have been Daddy's fault. He's the one who left it on the side of the couch farthest from the door. Nope, it wasn't me. I just moved it to the other side of the couch and thought I'd teach him a lesson by not following him to Miss Jenny's with it...right. (Adele did fine without it though...)
