Almost Walking!

On Tuesday night, Adele took two steps to me at the top of the stairs. She has taken one or two steps here and there since then, but FINALLY today she went back and forth between Daddy and me several times, taking a few steps each time...and she was SO PROUD of herself! She still gets stubborn sometimes (read: will pull her feet up so that you can't set her down standing up) but she's definitely making progress toward walking!

I had just talked with both Grandmas and told them about the two steps the other night, maybe Adele heard me bragging about her and wanted to show off some more???

Stay tuned for more walking updates! Especially because tomorrow she and Daddy are having a "stay home" day. (He had a dentist appointment, and THEY canceled on him....so he kept his sub and will stay home with Adele, how sweet!)

Finally...

It's Saturday, and that means PICTURES!!!

We had a blast taking pictures of Adele in the new onesie Daddy picked out. She wasn't entirely cooperative, but that made the pictures that we got much better!

If it were up to Adele, the onesie would say, "Green Babies Drool." She had the thing just covered in drool about five seconds after we put it on her. Argh! I'm not sure why it's facing the wrong way again, but the last picture shows the Wicked logo on her butt...my favorite! Daddy ordered me a whole bunch of Wicked stuff, but I think we both like the onesie best! I just love how Adele's hair looked like horns today too....making her look, well, wicked!

In other news, my first week back at work (school) went about as well as I could have hoped for. I was pretty worn out last night, so I skipped the Y (Hey, I went TWICE this week, give me a break!) and went to bed right after I put Adele down. I didn't actually plan on staying asleep, but I didn't wake up again until after 10 when Daddy came to bed.

Adele adjusted well to going to her new daycare at Miss Jenny's also. She started taking "monster naps," as Miss Jenny calls them...all close to 2 hours!!! And she takes them TWICE a day! She's pretty much been an eating and sleeping machine this week, and today was no exception. Daddy and I were thrilled when she slept in until 7:45 this morning, because I had been waking her up at 6, and we figured after 5 days she'd be stuck in a rut and ready to be up early just in time for the weekend! Nope!

Still Going Strong!

Things are still going well for us. My one complaint is that I haven't been able to take any pictures of Little Miss. Oh well...there's always the weekend...and stay tuned, because Daddy got her an ADORABLE onesie that I'm saving for then! I hope Adele is in a photogenic mood because I can't wait!

Adele is still doing well at daycare, and napping better than ever! Last night she was up several times overnight, but I honestly didn't mind going in to snuggle her at 2:30. Daddy took his turn about an hour later, but the little stinker stopped crying when he got to her door. The third time we just let her be. I must say, I was VERY happy that her crying spells got shorter rather than longer as morning drew closer! She was pretty upset at 2:30, and I let her cry for a little while, but it's hard to let her cry when she's had such a shock to her "system" this week!

I'm tired...kindergartners will do that to you...especially 44 of them! It's a good tired, though. And so far, I'm still as excited as can be about being back at school. Ideas are popping out of my head left and right, and I think my students are enjoying getting to know me.

Speaking of tired....Daddy and I were both so tired this morning that we forgot to let Cookie out...OOPS!!! I felt ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE when I realized what had happened (fortunately I was still on my way home, so when I found her puddles on the carpet, I knew it was MY fault and not hers....poor girl!!!). She usually comes downstairs with me when I make my coffee (ALWAYS the first thing I do in the morning!) but I think she's wiped out from this new schedule too, and she didn't come down with me right away. We're still getting used to getting 3 people out the door before 7 am, and today I dropped Adele off instead of Daddy (He *finally* got sick, so he had to go to the doctor...stupid sinus infections!!!) so that added an extra twist to our morning! In all of the hustle bustle poor Cookie was overlooked. Did I mention how BAD I feel???

Oh, and on a good note, it's only Wednesday, and I've already been to the "Y" twice this week! I'm SO proud of myself!!! (but in addition to making me EXTRA tired, it also made me extra smelly...so I'm off to shower before bed!) Check back this weekend for pictures!!!

First Day!

Well...I officially completed my first day as a working mommy. It went well...better than I expected, actually.

Here's how I knew I was going to be okay:

I was walking down the hallway to pick up my students from art class. I passed a little boy with a tardy slip. I smiled at him and said "good morning" then went on my way. It crossed my mind that he might actually be one of my students, but I kept on walking anyways. A few minutes later a teaching assistant brought the boy in to art. (Aha! He WAS one of my students...oops!). He was crying pretty hard. (You would be too if you were late for school and no one was in your room when you got there!) The assistant said, "Somebody is sad because he misses his Mommy. We think you could relate to that." Awww....

I did miss my little girl all day, but I didn't cry once. (Which actually surprised me a little bit).

Adele had a great day at Miss Jenny's. She even took two naps for her. Two LONG naps. I'm jealous! She was full of energy when she got home, so we played quite a bit! She ate her dinner VERY well...even for Adele! She put up a little stink about going to bed, but I blame myself because I kept her up a bit longer than I probably should have.

Sick.....Again :(

Daddy and I decided that it was time to take Miss Adele back to the doctor. We were sure there was *nothing* wrong with her, and we'd walk out of the office emptyhanded, but we've been giving her cough medicine for at least 2 weeks straight, maybe even 3, and she's never really been "well" since her sinus infection back at Thanksgiving.

So, I called to talk to the nurse, and she agreed that it was time for Adele to see Dr. Freeman. No problem. I set up an appointment and put Adele down for a nap. She was still sleeping over an hour later when it was time to leave, so I had to wake her up. I hate waking her up! (Especially when she has been waking up so early in the mornings!). I loaded her into the car and it wouldn't start. I tried a few times with no luck. Finally I decided I'd better move the carseat to the truck if we wanted to make it to the doctor. I contemplated just cancelling her appointment, since I didn't think they'd be able to do anything for her anyway, but decided against that. It took a few minutes to get the carseat into the truck, the seatbelt almost wouldn't reach, but thankfully I got it to latch. I guess it's a good thing we're both home today so that we had a back up vehicle!

We made it to her appointment just on time...and then waited over an hour to see the doctor. I stayed in a good mood because I brought food for Adele, and even though it says "no food in office," I fed her anyway. (She's a baby, and it was lunch time!...and then an hour past lunch time!) She stayed in a good mood...thanks to those goldfish! And when Dr. Freeman looked in her ears, it didn't take long to see that she has a double ear infection!!!! I can't tell you how many times I've taken her in thinking she has an ear infection (she used to love pulling her ears) when she's been FINE...but today, when an ear infection is my least suspicion, she has one...well, two! Poor little girl! Thankfully her only "symptom" is her nagging cough (which is the reason behind her 5 am wake up time...she starts coughing and then can't go back to sleep) so she's in a pretty good mood. I just feel so dumb for not taking her in earlier! I guess her left ear is pretty bad.

So, I guess I get to add "first ear infection" to her list of milestones. (And speaking of milestones, Daddy gets to add "first time my car was towed" to his list.")

Christmas Videos

For the record, Adele WAS the first one up on Christmas day. That was the first day she decided to bless us with a 5 am wake up time...there's a trend I hope will come to an end soon!

Here she is enjoying one of her first candy canes:

A new favorite activity:

Happy New Year!

Adele slept in until almost 7 this morning...YAY! (She did wake up at 2 am to nurse though....she hasn't done that for weeks!) So far this year she's been a real snuggle bug. I hope the trend continues, she's so much fun to cuddle!

Stay tuned for some Christmas video footage...
