Blogworthy...

Ever since Anna was born, I've been waiting for this monumental milestone.

At first, I anticipated it, and found myself always preparing for it...especially when we'd go on outings.

When she started eating solid foods, I dreaded it, feared it, even.

But, it never happened, so I stopped worrying. I let my guard down. I didn't even think about it anymore.

Then today, after I changed Anna's diaper, and refastened her onesie, she rolled over and crawled away. It was then that I realized that I'd totally missed it.

Her first blowout.

Yup...I put a fresh diaper and re-snapped the onesie on my kid before realizing that she had poop all. the. way. up her back.

Ew.

I guess I had *really* let my defenses down.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Somehow, having kids makes holidays more exciting! We've been getting ready for St. Patty's day all month-Eating Lucky Charms, drawing Leprechauns, making leprechauns, and even having scavenger hunts in search of Leprechaun gold. (Seriously...I spent an hour and a half "planning" it, and Adele breezed through it in ten minutes- she wasn't stumped by ANY of the riddles...can't fool that smarty pants!)

On Wednesday, we took Adele's "gold" to the dollar store and stocked up on Green goodies just in time for the big day to arrive!

Thursday we went downtown to the St. Patrick's Day parade with a bunch of our neighborhood friends. It was chilly downtown with the tall buildings blocking the sun, and creating their own wind tunnel, but not nearly as chilly as our Thanksgiving Parade in Portage last year! Anna spent a good chunk of the time nursing, which is why there aren't many pictures of her, but I'm pretty sure Adele had a blast. She watched, clapped and cheered with great enthusiasm! (I think it helped that there was a plethora of peanut-free candy not to mention beady necklaces being thrown at her!)

Sorry this is late. DeeDee asked me if Adele was sad that St. Patrick's Day is over. My answer went something like this, "Well, she's Adele, so she doesn't really know that it's actually over..." So...I figure Adele won't mind if this is late, so you shouldn't either ;)

I let Anna play with Bubbles for the first time the other day while Adele and I worked on an art project.

Surprisingly, Adele lost interest in her project when she saw how much fun Anna was having!

Adele's "Garden"-during Memaw's last visit we got some little flower pots and seeds and started them out inside. Once the sprouts were three inches long, it was time to move them outside.

The sunflowers are still growing strong, but the rest were eaten by critters...

Proof (once again) that Adele IS my daughter...I was slicing some cheese for her and she said she wanted the whole thing!
(no, I didn't actually let her eat it all...)

On Monday, Adele had a two-hour delay....only, we didn't know that until Memaw drove her to school only to find the parking lot empty and the doors locked. It had rained on Sunday night, so there was no reason to think that I needed to look at school closings...schools don't close for rain, do they?

Well...they don't close for rain, but they DO close for flooding. And flooding there was! Not near our house, thank goodness, but in lots of other areas nearby (in fact, our town even made the paper up at Grandma and Grandpa's house!) So, that teaches me to not have the news on in the morning!

Forget cleaning while Anna napped, suddenly Memaw I had two extra hours (okay...minus a few minutes driving) to spend with Adele (read: entertain Adele).

Fortunately, for me, Memaw had turned Sesame Street on while I was napping Anna. When I got downstairs, there was a segment (is that what they're called when you're talking about a kid's show?) where some kids were making stuffed tortillas. I looked at the clock...we had a decent amount of time to do a "cooking project" and get Adele back into her clothes (she changed back into her princess dress before the door had even closed behind her upon arriving home!) before it was time to go *back* to school.

I looked online, but couldn't really find a recipe, so I faked it (I've been getting pretty good at that lately).

We mixed together some flour, oil and water to make the "dough." Rolled it into little balls, shaped the balls into "bowls", filled them with cheese, closed the dough back over the cheese, squashed them into little pancake-looking tortillas, and fried them up. They weren't bad. In the show they "stuffed" their tortillas with beans AND cheese, but I kept it simple. They also made guacamole to spread on top of their cooked stuffed tortillas, but I was fresh out of avocado.

They weren't half bad...

So...Thank you, Sesame Street for helping me find a productive way to entertain my big girl for a few minutes!

Super Saturday!

Sorry, Kohl's, your measly sales are nothing compared to how Adele spent her Saturday!

First Adele, Memaw, Anna and I headed to Monkey Joe's for her friend Andrew's birthday party.













It's pretty hard to compete with bounce houses, pizza, cake, ice cream and goodie bags, but we tried! From Monkey Joe's, Adele and I headed down to the Murat to enjoy Sesame Street Live from the fifth row! Adele was pretty excited at first...especially when I bought her an Elmo hat and cotton candy, but eventually a silly-band from Andrew won her heart...she payed more attention to the purple cat/bracelet than she did to the show...but, then again, she was probably wiped out from all of the excitement...not to mention sugar...!

We finished the evening off with dinner at Ted's (one of our entire family's favorites!), but I wouldn't call Adele spoiled...would you?

It Snowed Again, In Indiana...

These pictures are from last week when Memaw was visiting (which is why I actually get to be in some of them!). We were all geared up and ready for Spring, after a couple of gorgeous days a week or so ago, but since this is Indiana, Winter decided to give us one last "assault" (according to our local news channel...)...or something! Daddy only got a two-hour delay, but Adele had a snow day on Friday...I think she made it to school for only 3 out of 8 days in February...she missed once because she was sick, but the rest were cancelled due to weather (and one of those three days had a two-hour delay because of flooding this Monday!)




The snow was great for building a snowman in the morning, but by dinner time, this was as good as we could do:


There's no time like the present to learn to drive on the snow!
