Another Busy Day!

Wow! Adele has been going, going, going all day long! Grandma and Grandpa are still here, soaking up all the Ellie time they can get! She has been a doll all day (well, with the exception of a little...okay, big fuss at the park)

After a great night's sleep, she had a great morning. She did some tummy time (we're still waiting for her to roll over again) and had lots of snuggles from Grandma and Grandpa. She played with her peek-a-boo piano, we think it's her new favorite toy! Daddy changed his third diaper of the weekend (I think that brings his total number of diapers changed to around 10!)

Around 1:00 we decided to try taking Adele to another restaurant, a little Italian place that's sure to be closed the next time we drive by (There were only 2 other families there the whole time we ate). She was an angel the whole time! She was quiet on the ride over (it was only like a 5 minute drive, but still!) She needed to be walked around a few times, but never got louder than a fuss! She did cry on the way home, but it was naptime. She fell asleep within 5 minutes of us being home!

Speaking of naps, she's letting me put her down when she's sleeping again! Phew! I'm glad that phase didn't last long (and am hoping it doesn't come back anytime soon!) After her nap, I fed her and then it was time for another adventure!

We decided to brave a trip to the park...we couldn't resist with 60-plus degree temperatures outside! She did okay at first, we even went down a slide together (where was the camera for that moment???) Unfortunately, the sun was very bright and eventually she broke down and started screaming. (This is only unfortunate because Adele doesn't like the bright sun...all of us grown-ups were loving the sunny weather!) It didn't take too long to calm her down once we got home, but she was definitely telling us that she was done!

After our adventures out of the house, we had some down time at home. She kicked and kicked at her peek-a-boo piano with Grandpa...I'm sensing soccer in her future (Daddy is hoping she'll be a kicker on a football team...) The whole time she kept craning her neck to look at the TV (which I turned off) Uhoh! Mommy needs to keep the TV off this week if she's going to start watching it now! Right now she is chilling on the couch with daddy and Grandma, she's just as happy as can be...which is good, because soon it will be bathtime and while she's better about the bath itself, she still cries and cries afterward!

I'll post pictures from this weekend tomorrow, I'm worn out myself right now! Speaking of tomorrow, Daddy goes back to work, and Grandma and Grandpa will leave early, so I'll be on my own again :( I've really enjoyed having him home this past week, and Adele has loved it too! She is turning out to be a real Daddy's girl! By Friday, she would calm down better for him than for me (well, unless it was time to eat...) which is actually very comforting for me. It's nice to have someone else to give her to when she's crying (not that she has done much crying in the past few days, but still...)

She Rolled Over!

On Friday night, Adele and I were playing in her bedroom. She was on her tummy looking into her mirror. She was cooing and talking up a storm, and then...she rolled over! I couldn't believe it! I yelled out to Daddy, and he brought the video camera upstairs, but, just like a baby, she wouldn't do it again. I'm still excited for her!

She had a really hard time going to bed last night. Falling asleep was no problem, it was staying asleep when mommy put her down that she had issues with! I got pretty stressed out (3 hours of trying to put your sleeping baby down will do that, I suppose) Finally around 11, I was able to put her in her own bed. She slept till 5:30 and at that point, I didn't even try her in her own bed again. All day today she has slept on me and wakes up the instant I even think about setting her down. I really hope this is just a phase! It's hard to know whether I should put her down and let her wake up (she screams instantly and doesn't calm down until I pick her up again), or let her sleep on me so she gets her rest.

She has been happy and smiley for Grandma and Grandpa today. She wouldn't roll over for them either, but her head control is pretty amazing during tummy time. I can't believe she's the same little girl who used to just look down at her blanket during tumy time! We took a walk, and she did well for 3/4ths of it! The sun was in her eyes, and Grandpa did a great job acting as a visor, but that was still pretty rough on her!

I'm hoping for a good night's sleep tonight, especially since tomorrow is Daddy's last day of vacation!

Time Flies!

Today I went to KinderCare to put Adele on the waiting list for next January. I can't believe she's almost three months old already! January will be here before we know it, and I'm already sad about sending her to daycare! I did fine when I was there, but cried the whole way home! While I was touring the center it wasn't so bad, probably because of my background with child care, I looked at the center from my "teacher" viewpoint instead of my "mom" one (the "mom" one kicked in on the way home).

Daddy babysat while I toured the center. He and Adele got along fine. She had a blow-out for him...nice work! He also finished his DVD today and I watched it...I can't believe how big Adele has gotten! I hadn't seen some of the hospital footage yet, she was SO tiny.

She had a pretty rough night last night, even though she was in bed by 8:30, she was pretty much awake from 4:30 until 7. She would fall asleep then jerk herself awake (we tried sleeping in the chair, walking around, sleeping in her crib, just about everything!). I didn't let myself get frustrated, probably because I knew Daddy would be home to give me a break if I needed one today. She did sleep with me in her chair from 7 or so until 8:30. This is the second time that she's really fought going back to sleep like this. I'm not sure if there's anything I can do about it, but I hope it doesn't become a habit!

Grandma and Grandpa are coming tonight. I'm hoping Adele will be asleep by the time they get here, because we're expecting them to be pretty late. I am also hoping that she'll sleep well tonight, all night so that she's rested and happy tomorrow! She had some pretty major extremes today, going from completly happy to completely miserable and screaming within seconds (literally) all day today.

No pictures, we were just too busy! I'm sure I'll post a ton after this weekend with Grandma and Grandpa!

Photo Shoot

The "photo shoot" went well, especially considering that Ellie hates changing clothes, and we had her in several outfits. My favorites are the naked ones, go figure!

Sleepy Day!

Despite sleeping very well last night, Adele has been very sleepy today! She has taken two naps where she basically fell asleep herself, I just cradled her and gave her the paci. She did the rest! She woke up once from this second nap, but I rocked her a little and she went right back to sleep. She has been sleeping in her bobby on the couch, so I stay close by, but I'm not tied down with her in my arms...I hope that phase is done for good!

With all of this napping going on, I should be getting more done, but I'm letting myself slack this week, since it's Daddy's spring break! I did fold laundary, and I made lunch for Daddy and I. I am still in my pajamas though. It's nice to have Daddy here to play with her during her "happy time" after she eats. He has been working on a DVD project today, and we are hoping to do a "photo shoot" of Adele later. We want to capture her in some of her cute outfits before they're too small (if we're not too late already!)

Right now I am debating waking her up to feed her or letting her sleep. I thought that once I started to blog she'd be up for sure. She did open her eyes for a second, but she's out again. She's so cute when she sleeps!

Oh...two things to add from yesterday:

1. Grandpa (G.) You're in BIG trouble! Yesteday Adele looked at the Ray Charles poster in the piano room and said, "Da." I definitely blame you if her first word is "daddy" and she says it while staring at that poster! (When Grandpa is here he shows Adele the poster and tells her that Ray Charles is her daddy)

2. We were VERY brave last night and decided to act like grown-ups and watch a movie after Adele went to sleep (She fell asleep just before 9) She did wake up once, early into the movie, but it didn't take too long to get her back to sleep (after screaming bloody murder during a diaper change....her diaper wasn't even wet...my bad!) But then she slept through the rest of the movie. She woke up at 12:30 to eat (that's new) and then again at about 6, but she went back down in her own crib after both feedings. I had to force myself to get up and put her into the crib, we were so cozy in the chair. When she woke up at 7:30 after only half an hour or so in her crib, we did go to the chair, because I was pretty sure she wasn't hungry and just wanted to snuggle mommy. She did, and we slept in until almost 9...almost a 12 hour night! Yay!!!

I'll post pictures later, right now the camera battery is charging.

Fussy Morning

Despite being up most of the night again, Adele is in pretty good spirits today. When she's not tired (Which has been most of the day considering she's been up since about 4:30), she has been very smiley.

We ran errands and she started out doing just fine. But as soon as the car stopped, it was a full blown scream-fest. We're still working on the whole car ride thing...I've heard it will get better!

She played on the Peek A Boo Piano that Tim and Laura gave her. She understood her mission immediately: Kick the piano keys to make the little bird go peek-a-boo. She kicks like there is no tomorrow! She has also begun smiling every time she sees the picture frame above the couch. It has pictures of mommy and daddy in it, and she just looks at it and smiles. It is so cute! She had a very long tummy time on her surfboard mat. She really loves the little crab (hmmm...). It makes a bubbling noise when you squeeze it.

Jill stopped by with some Starbucks for mommy, and Adele actually went to Jill without fussing! I was especially proud of her because it was in-between nap and eating time...she usually screams even for mommy at that time!

Right now she's reading Chicka Chicka Boom Boom with daddy. She loves that book!

No Tears?

We had a little photo shoot this morning with the Easter outfit Memaw sent. It's almost too small! Good thing I put it on her today! I forgot to cover up the pillow on the couch, but otherwise I think the pictures turned out pretty cute. It's still hard to get her to smile for the camera, but in all honesty, the one where she is yawning is my favorite anyway!

She has fallen asleep twice today just with me holding her and her paci. No laundary, no bathroom fan, no running water. How crazy! I guess she likes to keep me on my toes! Last night was a bit rough, it took 3 tries to get her to sleep, (She woke up again shortly after I wrote my blog) but I really think that the weather had something to do with it. She slept from about 10:15 to 5:30 though (and then I fell asleep in the chair again...I need to stop doing that!) We got up early today, around 8. Maybe that's why she's napping so well!

So, my title is "no tears?" and here's why: My friend Amber came over for lunch today. (I've started making people come here and bring me food since Adele hasn't been so cooperative when we go out to eat) Well, Adele was smiley the whole time, and even let Amber hold her...with no tears!!! Yay! I'm extra excited because Grandma and Grandpa are coming to visit this weekend...maybe my arms will finally get a break! (Although she's so cute lately I just want to hold her all the time anyways!) I took a picture to prove (probably to myself) that Adele can be held by someone other than mom or dad!
